Deacon Ministry

The backbone of our lay leadership, the Fellowship of Deacons, is made up of godly men that are known as spiritual leaders in our church and meet the biblical qualifications found in I Timothy chapter 3. The deacons assist the pastoral staff in ministering to the congregation as well as answering the biblical mandate to take care of the widows and orphans. In addition to serving the Lord’s Supper and providing financial accountability to the staff through monthly meetings, the deacons are involved in numerous service projects throughout the year. The deacons also help in visiting shut-ins as well as contacting new members to assist in the orientation process to Lavon Drive. The Fellowship of Deacons is divided into three equal groups with one-third of the deacons rotating off annually. Incoming deacons serve for a three year term.
